Buchanan County entered into a 28E Agreement with Benton County to begin collecting unpaid court debt effective July 1, 2017.  Prior to that date collection of delinquent court debt was sent to a third party debt collector.

Driver's License Reinstatement Program (CAPP)
Vehicle Registration Holds & Lifts

Drawbacks to the third party debt collector:
The amount owed increases by about 25%.  For example, someone with a court debt of $1,000.00 would owe $1,250.00 once the debt was assigned to a third part debt collector.  When a payment plan is established with the third party debt collector, that particular debt/case is retained by the third party debt collector forever.  The third party debt collector does not participate in the Driver's License Reinstatement Program (see below).  The third party debt collector does not assist in lifting Vehicle Registration Holds & Lifts (see below).

Benefits to County Attorney collection:
By having your case returned from the third party debt collector the added fees (up to 25%) must be removed. All of your delinquent court debt can be combined into one payment plan. Participation in the Driver's License Reinstatement Program for individuals with a suspended driver's license.Assistance in lifting Vehicle Registration Holds & Lifts for individuals whose ability to renew vehicle tags has been restricted.
