Kim Robin Tielebein, 49, entered a guilty plea to Arson in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony, in the Iowa District Court for Buchanan County on May 16, 2017. Tielebein was charged following an investigation by the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal’s Office determined Tielebein had intentionally caused the fire at his residence, 403 E. Sufficool Street, Hazleton, on February 25, 2017. The residence was in the process of being foreclosed upon at the time of the arson.
Tielebein was immediately sentenced to an imposed indeterminate term of confinement of not more than 10 years. Related fines and surcharges were suspended.
Tielebein was on parole at the time of the arson from convictions in 2015 for three counts of Possession of a Firearm or Offensive Weapon by a Domestic Violence Offender, one count of Possession of Ammunition by a Domestic Violence Offender, Eluding or Attempting to Elude While Operating While Intoxicated, Operating While Intoxicated, and Driving While License Revoked.
