Buchanan County Community Services

Community Services Overview:  Buchanan County Community Services office is located on the north end of the lower level of the courthouse.  The office is comprised of four departments:

  1. Targeted Case Management:  Case Management is an individually centered, family and community focused process through which clients are assisted in identifying, securing and sustaining resources necessary to live in a normally interdependent way in the community.

  2. Mental Health and Disability Services of the East Central Region:  Is an access point for individuals living in Benton, Bremer, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Johnson, Jones and Linn and wanting to receive mental health or disability services funded by the county.

  3. General Assistance:  The General Assistance office is able to provide assistance to Buchanan County residents on an emergency need basis.

  4. Veterans Affairs:  The Veterans Affairs office provides assistance to all honorably discharged Veterans and their dependents in applying for federal benefits and provides assistance to Buchanan County residents on an emergency need basis.
